Weather Cancellations
In the event of rain that requires Delwood to close the fields, we will notify all coaches via Basecamp and, if able, update the field status on the home page of the website.
When possible, we will publish the notice three hours before the first practice or at 6 a.m. for Saturdays.
If rain is forecasted, but not yet in the area, we may hold on closing to prevent losing a practice night for rain that doesn’t come.
In any case, if the infield is muddy at all, please do not practice on them.
Lightning Policy
All fields are closed anytime there is lightning within 10 miles of Delwood.
This is determined first by using the WeatherBug app. Whether or not you can see or hear lightning or thunder, if the WeatherBug app shows a strike within 10 miles, the fields are closed.
If the app does not show a strike within 10 miles, but you see or hear lightning, the fields are also closed.
The fields can re-open after the app no longer indicates there was a strike within 10 miles within the last 30 minutes. If not using the app, the fields are closed for 30 minutes following the last strike of lightning or thunderclap.
When the fields are closed, everyone must return to their cars or go inside the restrooms or clubhouse. The dugouts and stands are not safe during a storm.
